What Is Getaway Like?
On the first night, you will receive a welcome from the director of Getaway, and meet International students from schools all around Missouri, Kansas, Iowa and Nebraska. Some of them will be part of your family group – which is commonly the most favorite part of Getaway among students who attend. With your family group, you will make new friends, play games and discuss important and deep life topics.
Each morning, you will have breakfast, then a discussion about life and a story from the Bible. Each discussion is designed to be a safe place to ask questions and share your ideas, even if you have no former religious interest or experience. The afternoon is full of free time and fun activities, such as paintball, a ropes course, caving, outdoor sports, indoor crafting and cooking lessons. In the evening, we will have a guest speaker who leads a large group conversation followed by fun camp activities, such as a campfire, an International trivia night and even a cultural showcase. Add to all of that the quiet conversations with friends around a meal, the beautiful mist rising off the lake in the morning, the quiet forests and the beautiful wildflowers, and you have a wonderful weekend to remember! We hope that you and your friends will join us.
